Entrepreneurship & Law Workshop Series, Session II: Employees and Consultants

The Keller Center is pleased to announce a series of legal workshops to be held in the spring semester of 2017, facilitated by Steven Spielvogel, co-founder of NYC law firm Gallion & Spielvogel. The four workshops will be offered one Wednesday each month from February through May, 5:30-7pm. The full list of workshops can be found here. All sessions will be held in the Entrepreneurial Hub Room 115. Undergrads, grads, postdocs, and faculty are welcome to attend. Please note that registration for each workshop is required and dinner will be served.
Session II: Dealing with Employees and Consultants
Topics to be discussed will include:
(i) determining whether an individual is an “employee" or “consultant";
(ii) consultant, employment and non-compete agreements, “at-will” employment;
(iii) stock options (incentive stock options (ISOs) and non-qualified stock options (NQOs)); and
(iv) Section 83(b) elections.
Guest speakers at this session will include Jeffrey Colon, Professor of Law at Fordham University, and Charles Forgang, Founder and Principal Attorney in the Law Offices of Charles S. Forgang, concentrating in Employment and Corporate & Business Law.
