I am a maker and innovation explorer with a curious mind. As the Makerspace Educator & Design Lab Manager at the Keller Center, I aim to create an open and welcoming makerspace to illuminate fun, creativity, and making. A space where we can learn from playing. Where we can learn from trying. Learn from mistakes. Learn from making. My academic interests are in creativity, STEAM, information experience, and academic makerspaces. I enjoy all forms of making (3D printing, laser cutting, woodworking, and graphic design) and collecting comics for my pastime.
What are your responsibilities at the Keller Center?
As the Makerspace Educator & Design Lab Manager I manage the Makerspace and its technologies, develop workshops and co-curricular activities to engage and collaborate with the Princeton campus community in the culture of making, and teach and mentor students formally and informally to engage them through the intellectual and experiential process of making and creating.
What do you appreciate most about the Keller Center?
What I appreciate most about the Keller Center is the passion the staff and faculty carry in every element of Keller. I see and feel the deep care the people at Keller have for the students in the carefully and passionately designed courses, programs, certificates, and other offered opportunities. It is a humbling honor to be part of and contribute my passion for making, creativity, and innovation at the Keller Makerspace.
What advice would you have for students about getting involved at the Keller Center?
"You are creative." The advice I want to tell students who are getting involved with the Keller Center and its Makerspace is that they are creative. Students might think that they are "not creative" because they don't fit into their idea of creativity, but they are. You are. The Keller Center, the Makerspace, and the programs we offer help students ignite and illuminate their minds and have fun in the process. Visit the Makerspace. Try one of our technologies. It's okay to fail and make mistakes, and try something new with us.
