About the Company
Hesai Technology is a global leader in developing LiDAR sensors, a type of 3D laser sensor used by a range of industries, including autonomous driving, robotics, logistics, mapping, and V2X.
Founded in Shanghai, Hesai's team of 800+ has created a suite of innovative sensor solutions that combine three core strengths: industry-leading performance, manufacturability, and reliability.
Hesai's proprietary micro-mirror and waveform fingerprint technologies continue to lead the market in sensor innovation, creating a 500+ patent portfolio and winning customers spanning 70 cities in 20 countries and regions.
To date, Hesai has raised over $230M from Bosch, LightSpeed, Baidu, and other global investors.
Internship Description
The Hesai Perception Group takes on the challenging problems within self-driving systems. We develop new algorithms, perform testing and experiments, and aim to build a self-perception system in the real-world: detection/classification across many types of objects, tracking, segmentation and sensor fusion, etc.
In this role, you will:
- Research new perception models and algorithms based on LIDAR.
- Research new sensor fusion models and algorithms.
- Collaborate on deploying these models on real vehicles.
- Develop in Python/C++/C.
At Hesai, interns work on tasks that are similar to those of full-time team members.
Additional Requirements
We'd like you to have:
- A strong math foundation.
- Experience in data structures.
- Experience programming in Python/C++/C.
- Experience in Perception based on LIDAR, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Sensor Fusion, or similar is preferred.
- Spoken Chinese is helpful but not required.
This is an in-person opportunity only, remote work cannot be supported. (NOTE: Princeton's decision to allow or not allow in-person summer opportunities and international travel will be made in Spring 2021)
