Faculty Innovation Through Launching Spinout Startups

This session will have three components, all held consecutively on the same day.

Component 1 - Three Princeton faculty will share their spin-out experiences in a fireside chat setting following by an open discussion and Q&A. Each presenting faculty member provides a different perspective from the tech, biotech and social sciences sector. They will share their thought-processes, decisions, options, challenges and key takeaways if they were to do it again.

Component 2 - Three venture capitalists will share their views in a panel format on what constitutes a company rather than a technology. This will be followed by individual breakouts where workshop attendees can and share their research with the panelists.

Component 3 - The session will conclude with a workshop on creating a startup. The topics covered will be: building and compensating the team, getting funding, setting up your venture - legal & accounting, and intellectual property.

This workshop will be held in-person. Location to be announced.

Facilitator Bio

Shahram Hejazi is a Lecturer and Entrepreneurship Specialist for the Keller Center and the Managing Director and CEO of BioAdvance, an early stage life science investing company. Shahram teaches two courses with the Keller Center-- EGR 475: Building and Operating Complex and Regulated Ventures as well as EGR 395/ENT 395: Venture Capital & Finance of Innovation.
