Michael H. Morris is Professor of Entrepreneurship & Social Innovation at the University of Notre Dame’s Keough School of Global Development. The entrepreneurship programs he has built at three universities have received global recognition for excellence. At Notre Dame, he works to bring entrepreneurship empowerment to those operating under conditions of adversity, directing the Urban Poverty and Business Initiative, now operating in over 50 cities around the world, and the Global Partnership for Poverty and Entrepreneurship, a collaboration of faculty members, public policy experts, nonprofit leaders and others working at the poverty and entrepreneurship interface. His outreach efforts have facilitated development of thousands of ventures. Professor Morris directs the Experiential Classroom, which shares best practices in entrepreneurship education with faculty from around the world. He has authored or edited 18 books and published over 150 scholarly journal articles. Dr. Morris is a Past President of the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE). He has been awarded the Edwin & Gloria Appel Prize for contributions to entrepreneurship, the Academy of Management’s Dedication to Entrepreneurship Award, the Leavey Award from the Freedoms Foundation for impacting private enterprise education, and the Oberwager Prize for affecting students beyond the classroom. He also received the Legacy Award from the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers, and the Max S. Wortman Lifetime Achievement Award in Entrepreneurship. He is a former Fulbright Scholar, and earned his Ph.D. in marketing from Virginia Tech in 1983.
