Capstone Project

To fulfill the capstone requirement, students must demonstrate mastery of concepts and their application in Technology and Society to a particular theme of interest. As appropriate for their course of study, they will complete do so through one of the following ways. Note that the choice of Capstone component needs pre‐approval of the student’s advisor and the Associate Director of Academic Affairs at the Keller Center. In preparation for the capstone, you will also engage with a community of peer and professor Technology and Society scholars throughout the program, You will be required to present your projects at the end of your senior year at the Keller Center’s colloquium.

Here are examples of how to fulfill the capstone requirement:

  • Write a 12-15 page paper for a 400-level course on an advanced topic in Technology and Society
  • Include a chapter in their thesis or independent work of relevance to Technology and Society
  • Take one additional course from the Technology and Society General list (P/D/F is permitted)
  • Subject to faculty funding and availability, conduct a summer research assistantship supervised by a scholar in Technology and Society
