Ho Jung Choi is the Director of the Korean Language Program at Princeton University. He completed a Ph.D. in ESL and Foreign Language Education (Korean focus) from the University of Iowa. His research interests include Korean language pedagogy, literacy, literacy beliefs, multiliteracies, language education, and teacher education.
He was awarded Magic Grants for Innovation by the Humanities Council and has been working on a virtual reality (VR) pedagogy and Korean language learning in virtual environments. In addition to the regular teaching materials, Choi has implemented Virtual Reality (VR) to provide students cultural immersive environments. Recently he has been developing an advanced-level curriculum for fast-diversifying Korean language learners at Princeton.
Choi participated in the national collaborative project, AATK Standards-Based College Korean Language Curriculum Development (2012-2015) as one of the curriculum developers. Choi has been serving on the executive board of the American Association of Teachers of Korean (AATK) and the Korean Honor Society (KHS) committee 2020-2023. Prior to coming to Princeton, he had taught Korean at all levels and served as a coordinator of the Korean Language Program at the University of Iowa. He also taught Korean at Middlebury College Summer Language Program.
