Mengge received his bachelor's and master's degrees from McGill. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Art & Archaeology department at Princeton, specializing in Chinese art history. His dissertation explores the material formats of paintings and the viewers’ experiences in medieval China. He is the co-founder of “Museumverse,” a collaborative project sponsored by the Humanities Council that explores the potential of 3D scanning and virtual reality with local museums in New Jersey.
