With an increasing global population and diminishing natural resources, sustainable agriculture is becoming increasingly important. TerraBite is building a small and affordable robotic platform that will increase accessibility to precision farming for smaller farms and bridge the gap between the efficiency of conventional farming and the soil sustainability of organic farming. The primary goal of TerraBite is to develop a robot that can aid with weed management, providing an alternative to the use of herbicides and pesticides and offsetting the amount of human labor associated with weed removal that would be required for a transition to larger-scale organic farming.
