The course objective is to equip future leaders to successfully identify and navigate ethical dilemmas in their careers. The course integrates theory and practice, including “The Five Essential Questions” of ethics. Students will learn basic ethical theories, develop practical tools and resources for values-based leadership, and cultivate ethical fitness in for successful careers in for-profit and non-profit organizations. We address professional, marketplace, technology, and broader public policy questions through interdisciplinary perspectives. The course considers the role of various religious traditions and spirituality as a resource for ethical formation, values, and decision-making at personal, institutional, societal levels. The course explores contemporary case studies and ethical dilemmas, public policy questions, and includes insights from guest CEOs and former students from different faith traditions, professional sectors, and organizational types (start-ups and established organizations in both for-profit and non-profit/public service).
