Host an Intern
Since launching in 2016, the Princeton Startup Immersion Program (PSIP) has proudly partnered with over 80 of New York City, Tel Aviv, and Shanghai's most innovative startups. We encourage you to explore how you can be a part of PSIP's 10-week summer internship program. As an internship host, you will welcome top Princeton University undergraduate and graduate students from all academic disciplines to join your team. Applicants will apply to your internship openings through a rigorous and competitive application process that includes a challenge puzzle provided by each startup. The challenge puzzle is intended to showcase the applicants’ creativity and problem solving aptitude.
What are the dates of the internship?
- New York City: June 1 - August 5, 2022
- Shanghai: June 6 - August 5, 2022
- Tel Aviv: June 6 - August 4, 2022
Will interns be remote or in-person?
We want nothing more than to have our students work side-by-side with their internship host. By design, PSIP provides interns with valuable hands-on experience within the entrepreneurial ecosystem in addition to an immersive cultural experience in their chosen destination. However, we must be able to pivot as needed to meet the demands of the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, we are planning both remote and in-person formats to ensure we are ready to implement whichever format is allowable. That decision will be made in the spring of 2022 and will be dependent upon global health and safety conditions. You will be asked to indicate in your application which format(s) you are able to support.
What can startups expect from PSIP interns?
We are very proud of the high caliber Princeton students who’ve participated in PSIP each summer. PSIP is open to undergraduate and graduate students of any academic major. Our applicants are entrepreneurial in spirit and innovative in nature. They have excellent verbal and written English abilities, top-notch technical skills and are motivated and self-driven learners. PSIP students are savvy consumers with perspectives of the U.S. and other international markets, languages and cultures.
Here are examples of what startup hosts have said about their interns:
"It's difficult to overpraise A. We have had other interns who were all exceptional. But A. makes things difficult for our future interns in that she set the bar much higher, really way beyond what we expected."
—G.R., CTO, ClearOPS, New York
" B., you truly rocked our worlds this summer! We couldn’t have driven the amount of impact we did without your help. You were constantly on the frontlines of key issues … we can’t wait to keep up with all of your future ventures and successes!”
—K.E., Impact Manager, Speakable, New York
"N. exceeded all expectations, above and beyond. We kept challenging him and he kept exceeding expectations. Some of the code he wrote will make it to production shortly."
—O.R., CIO, Syte, Tel Aviv
What do we look for in a PSIP internship host?
Startup companies are carefully selected to provide the following:
- Company is located in New York City, Tel Aviv, or Shanghai
- Company is keen to provide mentorship and guidance to their intern with regular feedback and progress checkpoints
- Provided we are able to resume in-person internships, intern must be provided a desk and physical work location
- Intern must be assigned projects that are meaningful and impactful towards the company’s product or services, and that have clear deliverables and milestones
What is the startup's financial commitment to host a PSIP intern?
- New York City: Startups provide each intern a $3,000 stipend.
- Tel Aviv and Shanghai: Startups provide each in-person intern an allowance, amount to be determined by the company.
